“A Journey from Egg to Duck”
Ms Felice’s Class
On April 14th, our class received fertilized duck eggs from a farm! After observing these eggs, we then put them in an incubator, beginning the 28 day incubation process. Throughout these 28 days, we learned all about the hatching process, while observing each egg daily, and counting down on our classroom “duck chart”. |

Finally, on May 11th, hatching day arrived, and the ducks began to show us a sign that they would soon be ready to make their way into the world! That morning, our class observed a tiny hole, pecked by our first duck and a tiny crack in a second egg. As the day went on, the tiny hole slowly began to increase in size by the slightest bit. Our school day ended, and our class went home, leaving our eggs, behind; two of them with small holes. These two ducklings, worked and worked throughout the night, pecking and pecking, pushing their way out! We arrived Tuesday morning, May 12th, only to see our first two ducks in our incubator! We watched these two little new born ducks in amazement. The excitement was overwhelming, it was truly incredible! As the next few days progressed, three more ducks cracked its shell and made their way into the world. |

We are now proud classmates of our five new additions to Room 7...Huey, Dewey, Louie, Lucky, and Peanut Butter! We have now been learning the responsibility of taking care of animals. We rotate the job of feeding our friends every morning, and every afternoon. They are now three weeks old, and have grown so much!
Soon we will say goodbye to our new friends. They will leave us here at Lake Drive and go back to the farm with their other farm friends.
We have learned so much during this exciting journey from egg to duck! It was a wonderful experience for all of us!
